The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces. Its primary responsibility is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during armed conflict. It was established on October 8, 1932, and has since played a key role in several conflicts and humanitarian missions in India and around the world.

The IAF operates a diverse range of aircraft, including fighter jets, transport aircraft, and helicopters. Some of the notable aircraft in its fleet include the Sukhoi Su-30MKI, the Rafale, the MiG-29, and the HAL Tejas. The IAF also operates several transport aircraft, including the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules and the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, for logistics and humanitarian missions.

The IAF’s primary mission is to defend Indian airspace and conduct aerial warfare. It also plays a key role in supporting ground troops, airlifting troops and supplies, and providing reconnaissance and surveillance capabilities. The IAF also plays a key role in providing relief during natural disasters, and has been involved in several humanitarian and disaster relief operations in India and around the world.

The Indian Airforce is headed by the Chief of Air Staff(CAS) who is the highest-ranking officer in the Indian Airforce. The current Chief of Air Staff is Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria
