Firefly Pose (Tittibhasana)

Firefly Pose, or Tittibhasana, is an advanced arm balance that requires a combination of strength, flexibility, and balance. It challenges the core, arms, and wrists while engaging the inner thighs and hamstrings. Here’s how to practice Firefly Pose:

  1. Begin in a squat position with your feet slightly wider than hip-width apart and your toes pointing slightly outward. Bend your knees deeply and bring your palms together at your heart center.
  2. Place your hands on the floor in front of you, shoulder-width apart, and spread your fingers wide for stability.
  3. Shift your weight onto your hands as you lean forward, lifting your hips off the ground. Your knees will come towards the back of your upper arms.
  4. As you continue to lean forward, engage your core and begin to straighten your arms. Press your inner thighs against the sides of your torso, squeezing them firmly.
  5. Slowly start to lift your feet off the ground, keeping your legs parallel to the floor. Straighten your legs as much as possible, pointing your toes.
  6. Maintain your focus and balance as you hold the pose. Keep your gaze slightly forward, avoiding looking down.
  7. To come out of the pose, slowly lower your feet back to the ground, bending your knees as needed. Return to the squat position with your palms together at your heart center.
