Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S. Named to US.-India Strategic Partnership Forum Board of Directors

His focus has been on assuring sustainable growth and giving long-term shareholder value top priority since taking over the IT services company in January 2023.

Ravi Kumar S., the CEO of Cognizant, has been appointed to the board of directors of the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). The Indian American has worked in consulting, cloud and infrastructure, data and analytics, traditional technology and engineering services, and digital transformation. At Cognizant, Ravi has prioritised long-term shareholder value and sustainable growth since taking over in January 2023. He establishes the company’s strategic direction and instills a strong client-first culture at all levels. 

“A doyen in the tech industry and a foremost thought leader who has unparalleled insights on the dynamic and fast-changing nature of the tech sector,” is how USISPF President and CEO Dr Mukesh Aghi put Kumar.

In a statement, Kumar said he is “honoured to join the USISPF Board of Directors. Noting that 70 percent of Cognizant’s nearly 350,000 employees live in India,, he said he “believes that their work is the critical cog on the tech talent wheel that will help drive economic success for both countries. This is the mission to which the USISPF has dedicated itself and I am thrilled to help author the story of our nations’ mutual success.”

Prior to Cognizant, Kumar served as president of Infosys from 2016 to 2022, where he led the global services organization across all industry segments and served as chairman of the Board of Infosys BPM Ltd. Previously, he was the group head for the Insurance, Healthcare, and Cards and Payments unit, and led the Global Delivery organization where he built the Oracle and CRM practices. 

Prior to joining Infosys, he held increasingly responsible roles at Oracle, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sapient (now Publicis Sapient), Cambridge Technology Partners, and Sapient. He worked as a nuclear scientist at India’s Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for the first few years of his career.

He serves as a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and TransUnion boards of directors. He serves on the New York Academy of Sciences board of governors as well. 

He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Shivaji University and an MBA from the Indian Xavier Institute of Management.
