Donald Trump has been elected as the 47th president of the United States, achieving a historic comeback four years after leaving office. This victory marks a remarkable rebound for the former president, who previously challenged the results of his 2020 defeat, faced felony convictions, and survived two assassination attempts.
Trump secured his victory by clinching Wisconsin and ultimately surpassing the 270 electoral votes required for the presidency. Earlier, he captured Michigan and Pennsylvania, successfully sweeping the critical “blue wall” states that shifted to President Joe Biden in 2020 after supporting Trump in 2016.
Vice President Kamala Harris called Trump on Wednesday afternoon to concede and congratulate him on his win. Shortly after, President Biden also extended his congratulations, inviting Trump to the White House to initiate the transition process. Biden also reached out to Harris to acknowledge her role in the race, the White House reported.
