Students from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, won the All-Track Grand Prize at HackHarvard 2024, held from October 11-13 at Harvard University. Competing against teams from top institutions like Stanford, MIT, and Harvard, they earned the “Overall Best Hack” award for their AI-powered app, Sustainify, which promotes sustainable living by guiding users on waste repurposing and eco-conscious shopping.
The team attended sessions by experts like Prof. David Malan and Dr. Leslie Valiant, with the first 10 hours dedicated to brainstorming within tracks like Smart City and Sustainability. Their app allows users to scan product packaging for environmental impacts, suggesting eco-friendly alternatives if needed. Final evaluations included judges from Microsoft and various startups.
