Target Group Appoints Former Citi Executive Shashi Bhat as Chairman

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that our esteemed alumnus, Shashi Bhat (MBA), has been appointed as the Chairman of Target Group, a leading UK-based business process services and software provider. His appointment is effective immediately.

With more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, Shashi brings a proven track record of leadership and innovation to his new role. Over nearly two decades at Citi, he held senior positions focused on digital transformation, including serving as Head of Digital Banking for the EMEA region. In this capacity, he led large-scale digital modernisation programmes across 10 countries, driving forward Citi’s digital evolution.

After leaving Citi in 2017, Shashi founded his own business and digital consultancy, providing advisory services to a range of organisations on product propositions and go-to-market strategies. His consultancy work included advising Tech Mahindra, the parent company of Target Group, particularly on its banking, financial services, and insurance (BFSI) offerings within its business process services division.

Founded in 1979, Target Group has a long-standing reputation for excellence in the BFSI sector, offering expertise in payments and collections, mortgage and loan originations, investments, life servicing, remediation, and redress. The company delivers cutting-edge software and managed services to over 30 major financial institutions globally, including Shawbrook Bank, Credit Suisse, and Santander.

As Chairman, Shashi will work closely with CEO Peter O’Connor and the wider executive team. O’Connor described the appointment as a “tremendous coup for Target”, praising Shashi’s “extensive background in financial services and digital transformation.”

This announcement follows a period of significant leadership growth at Target, with Scott Hill joining as Chief Information Officer, Uday Bola as Head of Solution Design, and Jonathan Hole appointed as Chief Risk Officer earlier this year.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Shashi Bhat on this remarkable achievement — a true reflection of his expertise, leadership, and commitment to innovation in the global financial landscape.
