Google Cloud to Invest $15 Billion in India: Launching Our First AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

India is witnessing a digital revolution like never before — rapid, ambitious, and full of potential. At Google Cloud, we’re proud to play a central role in this transformation, partnering with the Government of India and leading enterprises to support the nation’s vision of becoming a truly AI-first economy.

Today, we’re announcing a historic milestone: our largest investment in India to date — approximately $15 billion USD over the next five years (2026–2030). This investment will establish Google’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), Andhra Pradesh, a dynamic coastal city that’s fast becoming a hub for technology and innovation.

🚀 Powering India’s AI Future

This new AI Hub represents more than just infrastructure — it’s a comprehensive investment in India’s AI ecosystem. It brings together gigawatt-scale data center operations, new renewable energy infrastructure, and an expanded fiber-optic network.

The project directly aligns with the Government of India’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision and will serve as a key pillar in the next chapter of U.S.–India technology cooperation. Our goal is to accelerate AI-driven growth, create high-value jobs, and foster cross-border research and development that benefits both economies.

This isn’t just an investment in technology — it’s an investment in people, innovation, and a shared digital future.

⚙️ Infrastructure Built for Scale and Speed

The Visakhapatnam AI Hub will be designed to handle the increasing data and compute demands of India’s fast-growing digital economy. Built to Google’s global performance standards, the facility will feature gigawatt-scale compute capacity — the same kind of technology that powers Google Search, YouTube, and Workspace worldwide.

To ensure world-class reliability and speed, we’re partnering with AdaniConnex and Airtel. Together, we’ll deliver low-latency, high-performance AI services that empower businesses, startups, and researchers across India to build and scale their own AI-powered solutions.

This infrastructure will enable enterprises to harness the power of generative AI, drive innovation at scale, and strengthen India’s position as a global AI leader.

🌐 A New Global Connectivity Gateway

Our investment extends beyond data centers. We’re also building a major new international subsea cable gateway in Visakhapatnam. This development will bring multiple international subsea cables to India’s eastern coast — complementing existing landings in Mumbai and Chennai.

This new digital gateway will:

  • Enhance India’s connectivity resilience
  • Provide route diversity across the network
  • Deliver faster and more reliable digital experiences for users and businesses nationwide

By improving access and performance, we’re helping bring the benefits of AI and cloud technologies to more people and organizations across India.

🌱 Committed to Responsible Growth

At Google, we believe that progress and sustainability must go hand in hand. Our data centers are among the most energy-efficient in the world, and as we expand in India, we remain committed to clean energy and sustainable operations.

In partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, we will invest in:

  • New transmission lines
  • Clean energy generation
  • Energy storage systems

These initiatives will not only support our AI Hub but also strengthen India’s renewable energy ecosystem and contribute to a more sustainable electricity grid.

🌏 A Transformative Leap for India’s Digital Future

The Google AI Hub in Visakhapatnam marks a defining moment in India’s AI journey. By delivering world-class AI infrastructure at an unprecedented scale, we aim to empower innovators, uplift communities, and unlock opportunities that will shape the next decade of digital transformation.

This investment reinforces our long-term commitment to India — a commitment to enable AI for everyone, drive inclusive growth, and help build the world’s largest digital economy from the ground up.
