Amnesty International
Amnesty International is a global human rights organization that was founded in 1961 and is headquartered in London, UK. The organization’s mission is to promote and protect human rights around the world, by investigating and exposing human rights abuses, promoting the rule of law, and mobilizing public opinion to put pressure on governments and other actors to respect human rights.
Amnesty International operates in more than 150 countries, and its work covers a wide range of human rights issues, such as freedom of expression, abolition of the death penalty, and protection of the rights of refugees and migrants. The organization’s work includes research and investigation, advocacy and campaigning, and supporting victims of human rights abuses.
Amnesty International’s campaigns and initiatives include advocating for the release of prisoners of conscience, promoting gender equality and women’s rights, and calling for an end to torture and other forms of ill-treatment.
