History

Ayurveda originated in India, probably as much as 3000 years ago. A large percentage of the population uses this system exclusively or in combination with modern medicine. From the master, the knowledge of traditional medicines was passed on to the disciples, and then to the common man through various writings and oral narrations.

Ayurveda realizes that the entire universe is composed of five elements:Vayu, Akash,Prithvi and Teja

These five elements are referred to as Pancha Mahabhoota in Ayurveda. Vata dosha, pitta dosha, and Kapha dosha are collectively called “Tridoshas” and they control the basic physiological functions of the body .Ayurveda is attributed to Dhanvantari, the physician to the gods in Hindu mythology, who received it from Brahma.
