Connecting & Inspiring Young Indian Professionals in New England – A Founder’s Journey

At Indiaspora, we love spotlighting community builders who are shaping the future. Today, we are honored to share a powerful first-person story from Neeharika Munjal, Founder and CEO of Young Indian Professionals of New England (YIPNE) .

In this candid reflection, Neeharika shares why she started YIPNE, how she turned a personal struggle into a thriving movement of over 10,000 members, and her vision for uniting Indian professionals across the United States.

💡 The Problem: A Missing Space for Young Indian Professionals

Neeharika writes:

“My journey started with an issue I was facing: why were there no networking organizations focused on the Indian youth in Boston?”

As an American-born Indian, she often felt caught between two worlds—called a “fake Indian” or an “ABCD” (American Born Confused Desi) by some, yet deeply wanting to stay connected to her cultural roots. After graduating early from Boston University, she felt lost navigating the professional world. While she found non-Indian networking groups for healthcare, there was no active platform for young Indian professionals to network, share experiences, and grow together.

🚀 The Birth of Young Indian Professionals of New England

On April 12, 2022, a conversation with her mother changed everything. Her mother’s simple challenge—“Why don’t you make one?”—led Neeharika to launch YIPNE.

“My initial thoughts were that if 10 people joined, I would make 10 new friends. I never imagined it would build up to this scale.”

Today, YIPNE is a collaborative networking platform for professionals of Indian origin living in New England. Its mission: connect, inspire, and empower young Indian professionals while helping them stay in touch with Indian culture.
