St. Andrew’s Basilica has a rich history dating back to the early 16th century. It is believed to have been established by Portuguese missionaries and was dedicated to St. Andrew the Apostle. The present church was constructed over the years and was raised to the status of a basilica in 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI.
