Swetha, the founder and artistic director of Kalaikoil since 1985 in California, USA, has a rich lineage of training. She studied under Guru Smt. Vaasanti Gopinath Jaiaswal, who is the daughter of Gurus Gopinath and Thankamani. Swetha was also fortunate to briefly learn from her Guru’s Guru, Sri Udupi Jayaram, and her Parameshtiguru, Sri Kalaimamani VS Muthuswami Pillai. Additionally, she received Bharatanatyam theory training from Sri T.S. Parthasarathy and has an extensive music and dance research library. Her specialty and passion lie in abhinaya, but she also excels in complex group choreography, thanks to the guidance of Guru Smt. Vaasanthi.
