MIT’s South Asian Association of Students (SAAS) is one of the largest groups on campus, dedicated to promoting South Asian culture and creating spaces for students of South Asian descent at MIT. SAAS is open to all students interested in getting a taste of South Asian culture. Our organization was founded with the purpose of celebrating the diversity of South Asian culture and providing spaces for discourse and community among people with ties to that culture. SAAS provides space to celebrate South Asian culture in big ways, engage in discourse about that culture and the ways it affects our society, and to bond with other community members over shared experiences, values, and traditions. Our activities include a Garba/Raas (a traditional folk dance get-together), Holi, an annual cultural show, social parties, study breaks, discussions and talks with South Asian leaders, advocacy for South Asian issues, and much more. The SAAS Constitution can be found here.
