The Jain Center of America – New York (JCA) was established in 1976, becoming the first registered Jain Center in the United States. Initially gathering informally in various Manhattan facilities, the JCA NY Center faced the challenge of not having a dedicated place for worship. In 1981, they purchased their first temple building in Queens, and in 2005, they celebrated the inauguration of a state-of-the-art temple, showcasing a unique design that represents unity within the diverse Jain community. The JCA NY Center received the prestigious “Best Religious Building” award in 2005, highlighting its significance in the multicultural borough of Queens.
