The university was founded in 1967 by Jose C. Olivares and his son-in-law, Dr. Vicente M. Santos, and was named after Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal.One of the notable features of OLFU is its emphasis on medical and health science education. It is known for its medical and healthcare-related programs, including the Fatima College of Medicine, which is one of the top medical schools in the Philippines.
