University of California, Irvine is home to a medical school rich in history and tradition that spans more than 100 years. The oldest continually operating medical school in the Los Angeles area, the UCI School of Medicine was founded in 1896 by A.C. Moore, one of the first graduates of osteopathic medicine, and B.W. Scheurer, a medical doctor with German and American training.
