South Indian Grocery is a joint venture launched by Saju Perumattam (Saj Holdings Corp) and Cherussery Group who together have over 25 years of experience in retail and eCommerce business. Saju previously owned and operated an Indian grocery store called Taj Mahal while living in New York in the early 90s. Later, upon moving to Maryland, Saju opened a new Indian grocery store named Eastern Bazaar in Laurel, Maryland. The store was in operation from 2001 to 2007. In 2003, Saju started another small business in the form of an Indian jewelry retail store by the name of Jewel India, which was also in Laurel.
