Carrying an in-hand dictionary that helps you translate what you want to say in the language of the country is also very beneficial. 

A few of the other items that you can fill your bag with are, enough clothes (of course) based on the conditions of the place you are immigrating to, a pair of flip flops, one office wear and party wear shoes, small backpacks for your lockers, a handy first-aid kit, you’ll also need some toiletries. 

Do not overpack, avoid packing anything that can be conveniently bought locally in your host country. Keep in mind the luggage capacity at the airport while packing. Avoid buying a lot of stuff in the host country you might want to return will a small backpack.
