Navaratri – Day 5 – Skanda Devi

Fri, September 26, 2025 (6:00 am - 11:45 pm)
India

Description

On the fifth day of Navaratri, devotees worship Maa Skandamatā, the loving mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya). She is depicted sitting on a lion, holding her infant son in her lap, radiating both maternal tenderness and protective strength. This day is about nurturing, courage, wisdom and divine protection. The customary colour for the day is white, symbolizing purity, peace and devotion. Devotees clean the puja space, offer white flowers (often lotuses), fruits, sweets, light lamps and incense, chant the mantra “Om Devi Skandamatayai Namah,” and conclude with aarti and prasad
