Navaratri – Day 6 – Katyayani
Description
On the sixth day of Navaratri, devotees worship Maa Katyayani, the fierce and powerful form of Goddess Durga who slays demons and protects the righteous. She is often shown riding a lion, with weapons in her hands, symbolizing courage, strength, and valor. The colour of the day is red, representing her passion and warrior energy. Devotees offer red flowers (especially hibiscus or roses), honey, fruits, sweets, vermillion, and kumkum. They chant her mantras like “Om Devi Katyayanyai Namaha” and “Katyayani Mahamaye Mahayoginyadhishwari…” seeking her blessings for protection, success, the removal of obstacles, and, in many places, marital harmony.
