Green Card

A green card, also known as a permanent resident card, is a document issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that gives an individual the right to live and work in the United States permanently. It is evidence of an individual’s legal permanent resident status in the United States.

There are several ways to obtain a green card, including through family sponsorship, employment sponsorship, the Diversity Visa Lottery program, asylum or refugee status, or certain special categories.

Once an individual has a green card, they are generally eligible to live and work in the United States permanently, travel in and out of the country, and eventually apply for U.S. citizenship if they meet certain eligibility criteria.

It’s important to note that a green card is subject to revocation in certain circumstances, such as if the individual violates U.S. immigration laws or if they abandon their permanent resident status by living outside of the United States for an extended period of time.

Green card holders are also required to pay taxes and comply with U.S. laws. It’s important for green card holders to keep their status up-to-date and renew their green card when necessary.
