In vitro fertilization - IVF

IVF, or in vitro fertilization, is a type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) that fertilizes an egg and sperm in a laboratory  outside the body. The resulting embryo is implanted into the uterus, where it implants and develops into a pregnancy.

The basic steps of the IVF process are: The ultrasound guide needle was removed from the ovary. The eggs are then taken to the laboratory for fertilization.

Fertilization: Oocytes are fertilized with sperm in a laboratory dish. In some cases, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), which injects a single sperm directly into the egg, can be used. Embryo culture: Fertilized eggs are monitored and grown in the laboratory for several days until they reach the blastocyst stage. The resulting embryos are usually transferred through the cervix into the uterus using a thin catheter.

Pregnancy test: About two weeks after the embryo transfer, a pregnancy test is done to determine if the transfer was successful. IVF can be a complex and emotionally challenging process, and it may not be successful for everyone. The success rate of IVF depends on many factors, including the patient’s age, the cause of infertility, and the quality of eggs and sperm used. It is important to work closely with your fertility specialist to determine the best course of treatment and receive support throughout the process.
