An Indian student who moved to the United States for higher education has gone viral after revealing how she repaid a USD 100,000 (approximately Rs 80 lakh) education loan in just one year.
Sakshi, who relocated to the US to pursue her master’s degree, shared that her biggest motivation was to remove the financial burden from her parents’ shoulders. She said the constant pressure of the loan stayed with her throughout her studies and early professional life.
According to Sakshi, this stress became the driving force behind her disciplined financial planning and determination to become debt-free as quickly as possible.
She credited several well-paying opportunities for helping her achieve the goal, including an internship at Amazon and work as a research assistant during her academic journey.
Sakshi explained that beyond earning well, maintaining strict discipline with spending, savings, and repayments played a crucial role in clearing the massive debt within a year.
She also emphasised that emotional support was equally important. Thanking her family and fiancé, she said financial pressure cannot be managed through income alone and that support from loved ones made the journey easier.
Her inspiring story quickly gained traction online, drawing praise from social media users.
One user jokingly commented, “Please clear my loan too!” to which Sakshi humorously replied, “Of course.”
Another user wrote, “You made it👏 Not easy as said, it takes a lot of sacrifices especially when you are by yourself, but what helps you reach the finish line is support from family and best friends.”
A third comment read, “Heart heart heart.. Kudos to you!!”
Sakshi’s story has resonated with many young professionals and students, highlighting the power of determination, discipline, and family support in overcoming financial challenges.
