On Sunday, Manu Bhaker created history by winning the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol competition at Paris 2024, making history as the first Indian woman to win an Olympic shooting medal.
All things considered, this was India’s fifth shooting medal at the Olympics and its first Olympic medal overall at Paris 2024. From Athens 2004 to London 2012, India participated in three consecutive Olympics but came away empty-handed in the shooting competitions.
Manu Bhaker, 22, came in third with a score of 221.7 in the eight-woman final. Oh Ye Jin of the Republic of Korea won the gold with a final score of 243.2, setting a new Olympic record. Yeji Kim, a fellow citizen, defeated Bhaker with a final score of 241.3 to go to the gold medal round and win the silver.
