Jain Religion
Jainism is a religion and philosophy that originated in ancient India. Its core principles revolve around non-violence, compassion, and self-discipline. Jains believe in the existence of an eternal soul that is subject to rebirth based on the karma accumulated through actions in past lives.
Jains practice asceticism and renunciation of material possessions, with many followers choosing to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. They also place great emphasis on ahimsa, or non-violence, which extends not only to other humans but also to all living beings, including animals and plants.
Jainism has two main sects: Digambara and Svetambara. The Digambara sect believes in complete nudity as a symbol of their rejection of material possessions and identification with the soul, while the Svetambara sect allows its followers to wear white clothes.
Jainism has had a significant impact on Indian culture and philosophy, and it continues to have a small but dedicated following today, with around 4 million followers worldwide.
