National Anthem of Singapore

The national anthem of Singapore is called “Majulah Singapura”, which means “Onward Singapore” in Malay. It was composed in 1958 by Zubir Said, an Indonesian composer, and was officially adopted as the national anthem on December 3, 1959, when Singapore became a self-governing state within the British Empire.

The lyrics of the anthem were written by a group of writers led by Encik Yusof Ishak, who later became the first President of Singapore. The anthem is sung in Malay, which is one of the four official languages of Singapore.

Here are the Lyrics of the Anthem in Malay, Along with an English translation:

Mari kitaRakyat SingapuraSama-samaMenuju bahagia

Marilah kita bersatuDengan semangat yang baruSemua kita berseruMajulah Singapura
