The 9th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD)-2011 will be co-hosted by eight North Eastern States and the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER). The convention will highlight the North Eastern Region’s essence. The Chief Ministers of North Eastern States will meet in a plenary session, according to Shri Vayalar Ravi, Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs, who was speaking at a press conference today. The Diaspora would then have the chance to learn about the amazing potential of this stunning region of India.

The theme of PBD-2011 is “Engaging the Global Indian,” according to Shri. Ravi. The event will take place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi from January 7 to January 9, 2011. The Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region, eight North Eastern States, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is in charge of organizing the event. He stated that the convention will be opened on January 8 by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. On January 9, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, the president, will present distinguished PIOs and NRIs with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards-2011 and give the valedictory address.

Young overseas Indians will be the primary focus of PBD-2011, according to the Minister. A plenary session on “Engaging with the Young Overseas Indian” is being planned in an effort to engage and connect the younger generation of overseas Indians with emerging India. He announced the two pre-conference seminars on “Education” and “Health care,” which would give the Diaspora new opportunities to work in these sectors in India, while also highlighting the main feature of the convocation. This year’s rendition of the annual address known as the “Prof. C.K. Prahalad Memorial Lecture” will be given by a renowned Indian from outside India. Parallel interactive sessions on issues relevant to the diaspora will also be held, including (a) an industry round table: Information, communication, and entertainment (ICE) leaders from India and the Diaspora interacting Global Indian Celebration, grade C.
