The 10th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) will take place in Jaipur from January 7–9, 2012. The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Kamla Persad Bissessar, will be the Chief Guest of PBD-2012, Shri Vayalar Ravi, Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs and Civil Aviation, announced during a press conference today. PBD-2012’s theme is “Global Indian-Inclusive Growth.” He added that Rajasthan will serve as the 10th PBD’s partner State, giving the Diaspora a chance to learn about the state’s vibrant culture and potential.
The President Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will deliver the valedictory address on January 9 and present the Pravasi Bhartiya Samman Awards, according to Shri Ravi. The Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh will inaugurate this annual flagship event of the Ministry on January 8. He also mentioned that there will be two pre-conference seminars on “Solar Energy- Investment and R&D” and “Social Entrepreneurship-Water” respectively.
The Minister stated that more than 1500 delegates from all over the world are anticipated to attend PBD-2012. According to him, the government is working to make PBD a more significant and engaging event that will effectively address the issues and concerns of the Indian community living abroad. Additionally, he stated that a daily summary of the proceedings and a webcast of the event would be available. The interactive website would give the Diaspora the chance to attend the conference from any location in the world. On occasion.
The Minister of Industries, NRIs, and State Enterprises of Rajasthan, Shri Rajendra Pareek, spoke at the conference and said that Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is an effort to bring Indian Diaspora together on one forum, which expresses the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. He also requested the Rajasthan Government’s full cooperation and support in order to ensure the success of the 10th PBD. On this occasion, Dr. A. Didar Singh, Secretary, MOIA, was also present.
