Eye trauma or injury:You can  damage your eyes and lose your sight.Infection:Infections of the eyes and surrounding tissues can lead to blindness.Congenital diseases:Conditions a person is born with, such as congenital cataracts and retinopathy of prematurity, can lead to vision loss.There are many other causes of blindness, and  specific causes may vary from person to person. It is important to see a doctor if you notice changes in your vision. Early detection and treatment can often prevent or minimize vision loss.
