TCS Partners with C-DAC to Build India’s Sovereign Cloud Ecosystem

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a strategic partnership with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to accelerate the development of India’s sovereign cloud ecosystem. This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and ensuring data security for critical public services.

Building an Indigenous, AI-Enabled Cloud

The joint initiative will focus on creating AI-enabled, indigenous cloud platforms that comply with India’s data localisation mandates. These platforms will support the secure digitisation of critical public sector services and host essential government applications such as:

  • e-Sanjeevani (national telemedicine service)
  • Dial 112 (emergency response system)
  • Key workloads from central ministries and other public sector entities

By integrating C-DAC’s research and innovation with TCS’s sovereign cloud stack, the partnership aims to build a robust, secure, and scalable ecosystem for mission-critical applications.

Strengthening Security & Compliance Across Sectors

The initiative is designed to boost security, compliance, and performance across a wide range of sectors, including:

  • Healthcare
  • Defence
  • Smart Cities
  • Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI)

Built on OpenStack and powered by indigenous technologies, the project aims to reduce India’s reliance on global hyperscalers and make sovereign cloud platforms the preferred choice for national digital transformation projects.

A Step Towards a Digitally Empowered India

Commenting on the collaboration, Mr. Girish Ramachandran, President, Growth Markets at TCS, said that the initiative combines indigenous R&D, public sector infrastructure, and enterprise expertise to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready cloud platforms tailored to India’s digital vision.

The Bottom Line

This partnership between TCS and C-DAC represents a milestone in India’s digital sovereignty journey. By building homegrown, AI-enabled cloud infrastructure, India is moving closer to achieving secure, compliant, and self-reliant digital transformation for its public sector and beyond
