Google and the Telangana government signed a deal Wednesday for the establishment of the Internet behemoth’s Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC) in Hyderabad.
Google’s Hyderabad GSEC will rank second in the Asia-Pacific area, behind Tokyo, and fifth globally, behind Dublin, Munich, and Malaga.
As a specialized global cybersecurity hub, GSEC is essential to the development of cutting-edge security and online safety products in India. As per the CMO’s official release, the center will prioritize research, AI-powered security solutions, and establishing a collaborative platform for top cybersecurity experts and researchers.
The GSEC seeks to improve the nation’s cybersecurity capabilities, increase employment, and promote skill development. Outside of its headquarters, Google is constructing the largest office in the world in Hyderabad, where it currently employs the greatest number of people.
Following the announcement of the GSEC at the Google for India 2024 Conclave on October 3, states engaged in fierce competition to secure the investment.
The establishment of this cutting-edge facility in Hyderabad was made possible by the proactive efforts of the state government. When Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited Google’s headquarters in the United States, he brought up the issue. We are extremely pleased that Google has decided to establish the GSEC in Hyderabad. This collaboration demonstrates Hyderabad’s position as a global and national center for innovation and IT, according to Revanth.
“Telangana has always been at the forefront of digital skill development,” the chief minister said, welcoming Royal Hansen, CIO of Google. The global center of IT and ITES development has been Hyderabad. Five of the most valuable tech companies in the world—Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Meta (Facebook)—are already based in our city. With this collaboration, I hope that Hyderabad can quickly address the global cybersecurity issues.
Safety engineers from GSEC, Hyderabad, will be present to discuss the nation’s cybersecurity issues. In addition to creating thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities, it will help improve the digital safety of citizens, businesses, and government agencies.
Hyderabad is a leader in the nation’s cybersecurity efforts, the chief minister stated during the Wednesday discussion.
The Telangana Fiber (T-Fiber) initiative aims to connect over 47 lakh rural homes as part of this ongoing digital transformation. Through the integration of secure Android TV/smart TV systems, the partnership with Google will guarantee the digital safety of these homes. The cooperation of GSEC will bolster these initiatives even more, giving Telangana’s residents a safe and connected future.
“Google’s GSEC in Hyderabad will become a hub for safety engineering, including cyber and digital security,” Royal Hansen said in a statement marking the event. Hyderabad can become a global hub and meet global security needs with this partnership. Special thanks were given by Revanth to Royal Hansen for his assistance and collaboration with the government.
