Virat Kohli batted magnificently for India, scoring 82 runs off only 53 balls to lead India to a thrilling four-wicket victory over archrivals Pakistan in their high-profile T20 World Cup match on Sunday,. Pakistan scored a spirited 159 for eight after a shaky start. After a disastrous start to their innings, Kohli and Hardik Pandya (40), who together scored the majority of the runs, helped India complete the chase in the final ball.

India recovered from being in trouble at 31/4 at one point because of the two’s 113-run fourth-wicket stand. Iftikhar Ahmed’s 34-ball 51 and Shan Masood’s unbeaten 52 from 42 balls helped Pakistan, who were put in to bat after they lost their first two wickets for just 15 runs.

I just hit the two sixes instinctively, says Virat Kohli after an unbeaten 82 against Pakistan. Kohli stuck to the plan and let Pandya do the hitting and stretch and ran like a champion.

“Till today I’ve said Mohali was my best T20 innings. That was 82 of 51, this is 82 of 53. But I’ll count this one above just because of the magnitude of the game.”
