Types of vision, eye glasses

There are several types of vision glasses or eyeglasses that are available to correct different types of visual problems. Here are some of the most common types:

  1. Single vision glasses: These glasses have one prescription power throughout the entire lens and are used to correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.
  2. Bifocal glasses: These glasses have two prescription powers in each lens, with the upper part of the lens used for distance vision and the lower part for near vision. Bifocal glasses are commonly used by people who have both nearsightedness and presbyopia (age-related loss of near vision).
  3. Trifocal glasses: These glasses have three prescription powers in each lens, with the top of the lens for distance vision, the middle part for intermediate vision, and the bottom part for near vision. Trifocal glasses are used by people who have a need for intermediate vision correction, such as for computer use.
  4. Progressive glasses: These glasses have a gradual change in prescription power from the top of the lens to the bottom, allowing for a seamless transition between distance, intermediate, and near vision correction. Progressive glasses are preferred by many people over bifocals or trifocals because they do not have visible lines on the lenses.
  5. Computer glasses: These glasses are designed for people who spend a lot of time working on a computer or other digital devices. They have lenses that are optimized for intermediate and near vision distances and may have special coatings to reduce glare and blue light.
  6. Sports glasses: These glasses are designed for people who participate in sports and other physical activities. They may have impact-resistant lenses, wraparound frames for increased coverage, and other features to protect the eyes during sports activities.
  7. Safety glasses: These glasses are designed to protect the eyes from injury during hazardous activities or work environments. They may have impact-resistant lenses, side shields, and other features to provide maximum protection.
