India’s AI Push Gets a Sequel
India is gearing up for the next phase of its artificial intelligence journey. IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that IndiaAI Mission 2.0 will be rolled out within the next 5–6 months, with the government actively seeking fresh inputs from the industry.
This new phase aims to build on the momentum of the current IndiaAI mission, further positioning India as a global AI innovation hub.
India AI Impact Summit: A Global Stage
Vaishnaw also highlighted the upcoming India AI Impact Summit, calling it the “biggest in the world” in terms of participation by heads of state, government officials, and industry leaders.
Several AI models developed by Indian companies are expected to be launched at the summit. According to Vaishnaw, these models are “in very good shape”, signaling the maturity and readiness of India’s AI ecosystem.
$70 Billion Investment Already, More to Come
India has already attracted $70 billion in AI infrastructure investment, said Vaishnaw. He added that this figure could double by the end of the summit, driven by fresh commitments from industry leaders and global partners.
Energy Considerations for AI’s Future
Looking ahead, the IT Minister also stressed the importance of nuclear power in meeting AI’s long-term energy needs, reflecting the government’s holistic approach to building a sustainable AI ecosystem in India.
With IndiaAI 2.0 and the Impact Summit, the country is taking major steps toward strengthening AI innovation, infrastructure, and adoption—both domestically and on the global stage.
