Varalakshmi Vratam

Varalakshmi Vratam is a Hindu festival celebrated to honor the goddess Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Vishnu. It usually falls on the second Friday or the Friday before the full moon day in the month of Shravana (July-August) in the Hindu calendar. The word “Varalakshmi” is a combination of two words: “Vara,” which means “boon,” and “Lakshmi,” referring to the goddess of wealth and prosperity.

Devotees observe a fast on this day and perform special prayers and rituals to seek the blessings of Goddess Varalakshmi for the well-being and prosperity of their families. The worship typically includes the preparation of a sacred thread or thread made of gold or silver, decorating the idol or image of Varalakshmi with flowers and jewelry, and offering various traditional sweets and dishes.
